Vorticity Contour
Hey Foamers,

i've used the vorticity utility to calculate the vorticuty of my flow but i don't know how to plot it in Paraview. Is there any way except the stream tracer->coloured by : vorticity?

you can directly choose the viarible Vorticity in the board in Paraview. It's besides the P.U.

VSass May 29, 2013 14:56

Thanks! After weeks i found out that you must first select it from the fields menu below "mesh parts".

thanks anyway!

About the displacement
Do you know how to extract or compute the displacement of a plate moving in a flow field? I am trying a FSI problem, but I can't get it.

VSass May 30, 2013 03:47

I have a little experience with FSI problems using OpenFoam.

Which solver are you using?

immortality June 2, 2013 02:10

whats a FSI problem?what does it stands for?

VSass June 2, 2013 07:16

It stands for flow-structure-interaction, and it's about calculating stresses and displacements of the structure due to the presence of the flow.

Hi Vasileios
how do you define vorticity in 0 folder?
my case gives an error on it.

Well, you don't need to define it yourself. What is your doubt about?

immortality July 2, 2013 09:42

that's OK can improve the quality of contoour shapes?they have too contrast from blue to you change the range in paraview?till what value?

VSass July 2, 2013 10:10

Maybe the number of colours that you choose for your presentation can fix the problem. I use 17 colours. You can adjust them by clicking on the "Edit Colour Map" button.

immortality July 2, 2013 11:02

that's very better now.I confined its range scal to [-20000,200000] and 17 colors as you said.
