sample utility : not all the fields are sampled

Hi,
I am trying to use the sample utility (of16ext) to make some raw output files.
It samples for the U, k, omega, p and all the generic variables but not for some specific ones although they exists in all time folders.
The type of these not-sampled variables are areaVectorFields defined on one of the patches.
What may be the reason for this?

This would be due to the fact that the sample utility completely disregard the existence of any finite area meshes/fields.
