Hi guys,

is there an option to restructure OF results to an structured Mesh?

My mesh is structured and OF is solving it unstructured. I want to reconstruct the data to structured level. Is there an option?

Another workaround I am thinking about is

Loading structured Mesh with matlab and interpolate the OF results on this mesh. The structured Mesh is the same OF is solving on. So there should be no interpolation losses. Am I right?

Hi

you want to map the solution out of an unstructured mesh into a structured mesh, correct?

If yes you should use the tool "mapFields"

Hi Tobi,

yes this would solve my problem.

The structured mesh is saved in cgns format structured.

And I have my OF results - used exact the same mesh for simulation - converted the mesh in openFoam Mesh before.

Is it possible to interpolate with mapFieldFunction of OpenFoam to a different mesh format?
Do not think so....

Greetings to all!

@eRzBeNgEl: If you are able to import the structured mesh to ParaView, you can use it to interpolate the data from one mesh to the other, as explained here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/par...-paraview.html - problem is what will you be able to do with the results in VTK format...

As for importing CGNS mesh format to OpenFOAM, there is a wiki page on this topic: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Si...GNS_Converters

Best regards,
Bruno

Thanks Bruno,

i already solved it by using python. Same procedure as you suggested, interpolating is the only way for me at the moment (of course with no losses in physics*g*)
