viewing results from an external hard drive
Hello all,
Forgive me for the naive question but I can't seem to find anyone else that has had a similar problem. Basically, I am going to be running a lot of simulations with slight variations as part of an extensive sensitivity analysis. I would like to keep all the results from each simulation and do the post-processing of them at a later time so I have been transferring the results over to an external hard drive. However, when I try to run paraFoam on one of the cases it crashes before I can view the results. For example, I will run paraFoam -case /media/steven/Seagate\ Backup\ Drive\ Plus/openFOAM/alFaesly/meshSize/5x5x5 ParaView will then attempt to open like normal and then all the sudden crash with an error message saying created temporary '5x5x5.OpenFOAM' fileName::stripInvalid() called for invalid fileName /media/steven/SeagateBackupPlusDrive/openFOAM/alFaesly/meshSize/5x5x5/5x5x5.OpenFOAM For debug level (= 2) > 1 this is considered fatal Aborted (core dumped) I'm thinking it could possibly have to do with the fact that there is spaces in the name of my external hard drive (it's called Seagate Backup Drive Plus), but I am not 100% sure. Does anyone know what is going on, or how I could possibly work around this? Steven |
It was as I suspected, sorry I should have attempted this before I made a post. I edited the partition name using GParted to get rid of the spaces. Sure enough it works.

Good. I just wanted to suggest that.
