Hi..

Is it possible to interpret the squareroot of k in the k-epsilon model as the RMS value of the amplitude of the turbulent velocity fluctuations?

The idea comes from the units.. The amplitude of the turbulent velocity fluctuations are m/s, and the unit of k is m^2/s^2

Hi Mark, that's how turbulent kinetic energy "k" is defined. Refer to any book about turbulence... or the first tutorial in the OpenFOAM User Guide.
