Compression of OpenFOAM files afterwards
Hey Foamers!

I have ran several cases, but I have forgotten to let the files compress via controDict. How can I compress the files afterwards?

Cheers in advance

I found something what might help:

find -name "U" -type f -exec gzip {} \;

Hi Claus

Try the utility "foamFormatConvert". It reads the current settings in the controlDict and apply those to all file in all time directories.

Best regards,

Hi Niels
I changed
writeFormat binary;//ascii;//
and used foamFormatConvert in parallel form,but when open any file its still in ascii format.

Hi Ehsan,

I suppose that you do something wrong, because it is working with me. Are you executing the correct command for parallel?

Try the following:

nProcs=`find ./ -maxdepth 1 -name "processor*" -type d | wc -l`; mpirun -np $nProcs foamFormatConvert -parallel
Kind regards
