1D turbulence test case

Hello everyone,
I'm doing uncertainty quantification and I need to run 1D test case simulations.
I'd like to know if openFoam is a good solver for a 1D channel flow turbulence k-epsilon model solution.
I'm supposed to use fluent, but it doesn't have monodimensional solution right?
Is there a better software for monodimensional simulations, or do you think that the best thing would be to write a solver?

Thanks in advance,

Luca

I'm sorry, I'll try to explain.
I'm running a turbulent channel flow test case on Fluent but Fluent doesn't accept 1D domain and I need to add 3 knots in the streamwise direction and to set a periodic condition, so at the end I get 3xnumber of 1D elements. Does Openfoam or other solvers allow you to set a 1D domain for this case (I need k-eps standard model as Fluent)?
I'm running about 2000 simulations so it would be really less expensive! So maybe if I don't find anything I should write a solver?! But I don't have enough experience to do it fast =P

Is it clear now? Thanks in advance!

Greetings Luca,

It's a bit ironic, because if it were not for the spammer, I wouldn't even had noticed your thread.

Additionally, it's good that you've detailed more your question. Hopefully someone will be able to answer you.

Best regards,
Bruno

I am also interested, there is a possibility to make 1d simulations using special case of 3d and symmetric around axis case.

Anyone has experience with the 1D simulation with OF?

hello,

Yes, you can do 1D: just use empty BC for front, back and side, and just set BC on bottom/top. Work well for me.

But turbulence k-e simulation on 1D seem .. original !

Olivier

Thank you for your information!

In your case, it is the non-reacting fluid flow or reacting one? I do not know whether the 1D flame can be simulated by OF.

Best regards,
Xu

hello,

In my case it was a plasma simulation, so similar to a reacting solver.

Olivier

Thanks, I should have a try!:D

Sir, can you post the test case you tried in OF ?
