Hi,
I am currently working on simulating the flow in a Pelton turbine, and have already created and run a simulation in Ansys CFX. I aim to convert this to an OpenFOAM case to be able to compare the quality of the results. I am not that experienced with OpenFOAM, at least not with this type of complex case, and I hope to get some tips on how to approach this. First of all, is this doable, or am I aiming to high? I believe the solver I should use is pimpleDyMFoam. I am struggling to see how I can combine my two meshes (stationary and rotating) in OpenFOAM. Short description of setup: -Stationary mesh, imported from Ansys. Domain and water inlet (jet) -Rotating mesh (should I import this to the same folder case?). Consisting of domain and three buckets. -Both meshes have a sliding interface. -Rotating mesh should only rotate enough so that all three buckets have had a fully developed jet (<180 degrees) Update: I got the mesh merged by mergeMeshes and it looks fine. However, as I will have a two-phase flow (water jet and air in the same domain) I will probably have to use another solver. I'm guessing interDyMFoam might do the trick? Just saw your post - mergeMeshes is the correct answer.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply! Any idea regarding which solver I should use? The case is multiphase, moving mesh and transient. Regards, Jone |

you guessed right, interDyMFoam is waht you are looking for.
