radial boundary conditions on ring-like inlet

Hi all,

I need to setup boundary conditions on a ring shaped inlet using a file with precomputed values based on the radius (cylindrical coordinates) of the ring.

For now the best I've come up with is to use fixedValue for all inlet patches (total 2000) and interpolate the values using scripts, software and the file with precomputed data.

The inlet conditions are not time-dependant. Is there a smarter way of doing this? I know FLUENT can handle this type of BC and data is exported from there.

Thanks,:)

Greetings aanton,

I believe what you're looking for is exemplified in the tutorial "incompressible/simpleFoam/pitzDailyExptInlet", in particular inside the folder "constant/boundaryData/inlet/".
There isn't much more I know of this tutorial, so I can only suggest you study it and do tell us if you have problems with it!

Best regards,
Bruno

Dear wyldckat, thank you for the advice. Indeed, that is exactly what I was looking for! I'll let you know if anything.

Thanks again!

Best,

Hi aanton; I'm experiencing your same problem, in the sense that I receive a table of coordinates and values for velocity and pressure, and I need to use this values as inlet for a mesh generated with a different program. The data are output of STAR-CCM+ and has to be used as initial conditions for an openFoam simulation.

Did you manage to use the utility that wyldckat suggested you?
Thank you very much

Simone

Hi Simone,

i appologize for replying this late, I managed to setup the boundary conditions but for some reason paraview crashes when visualizing the mesh and patches. So I must have done something wrong. I'll try to find time to look into that, I've been very busy with other projects..
