faceZone or cellZone for MRF

hi everyone,

i read in MRFZone.H that cellZone will be defined as MRFZone and faceZone can also optionally be assigned as MRFZone.

my question is when is faceZone is needed as MRFZone?

in my studies of radial blower simulation, cellZone and faceZone are generated within sHM using STL (cylinder for my MRF Zone)

sofar i have set cellZone for the MRFZone in fvOptionsDict and the simulation ran okay sofar.

in my case, should i set faceZone as well for the MRFZone in fvOptionDict ?
when one needs to use the faceZone? just wondering why faceZone is also given in sHMDict

based on the log.sHM the faces are on the wall (boundary). so i think i just need to use cellZone as for my MRFZone.

am i correct??

Any news about this topic?
I am trying to do the same and I have the doubts if it is needed to make a faceZone or not. My mesh has two regions. I have generated the cellZone with one of the regions that will be the one rotating. AMI patches will be non-rotating Patches but what about the wall-surface located inside the rotating region?
I am using OF2.3.x. Now in the fvOptions dict you have you select between cellZone selection and faceZone selection.... I think

Quick answer: Nash made a similar question here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post447536 - post 11 and in the posts after that I gave some answers.

And I know I wrote somewhere that faceZones aren't needed for MRF, but I can't find where I wrote it... anyway, faceZones are useful if you need to do additional calculations on the interface between the MRF and the remaining mesh, for example, for checking the mass flow going through it, pressure levels and so on.
