Ambient water based on specified pressure

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I have a vertical rectangular cylinder, where the inlet is at the top (1/3 of the cross section) and outlet at the bottom of the cylinder. At one side of the cylinder I have a small opening with atmospheric pressure.

I need to define an ambient water on the lower half of the cylinder. I tried to do it by giving a pressure equal to rho*g*h (h is the initial height of the fluid) to the outlet boundary condition. I would then expect that the depth of the fluid remains constant and the water coming from the inlet would just go out through the outlet (which has zeroGradient velocity). But it doesn't behave like this. The pressure difference between the outlet and the opening at one side of the cylinder do some strange things that I cannot understand.

I have attached the 0, constant and system directories for the case. (remember to run blockMesh and setFields before running the case)

I really appreciate any help and idea.

regards
Hale
