Hi everyone,

I want to apply the timeVaryingUniformFixedValue boundary condition to the outlet in such a way that the outlet is closed (Dirichlet b.c.) for the first 3 seconds then it is open (Neumann b.c. e.g. an inletOutlet b.c.) for the next 2 seconds and it continues like that.

Is it possible to apply derived boundary conditions (e.g. inletOutlet) in timeVaryingUniformFixedValue for the velocity? In other words just change from Dirichlet b.c. to Neumann b.c.?

anyone has used groovyBC for time-dependent boundary condition? I need to switch between fixedValue and zeroGradient at the outlet as function of time.

Any help is really appreciated.

There are a few possibilities that come to mind:
  • You can run the simulation in two parts and use changeDictionary to modify the boundary condition. You can find examples by running:
    Code:
    find $WM_PROJECT_DIR -name changeDictionary
  • You can take the source code of the two boundary conditions and create your own boundary condition.
  • Have a look into the folder "Examples/groovyBC" in swak4Foam's source code package: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib/swak4Foam - as well as the dedicate page for groovyBC: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib_groovyBC
