how to apply pressure at only one side of a moving wall

Hi,

I have a moving wall boundary in the form of a rectangle inside a 1-D flow domain. I have developed a boundary condition to solve for wall motion based on forces acting on the wall. It s working fine (similar to sixDoFMotion bc). The rectangle as a whole is considered as rigid body.
Now, I want to apply external pressure at ONLY the left side of the rectangular boundary and at its right side I would give zeroGradient thereby allowing fluid force from internalField. But, i have defined left and right sides of rectangle together as movingWall since i consider the entire rectangular boundary as one rigid body.
so, how can i go about applying pressure at only one side of t rectangle ?
i m stuck on this. kindly help.

Did you consider splitting your movingWall patch in two parts?

Hello bernhard,

thanks for your response. yeah, I have thought about it. As i have mentioned in t post, I want to move the wall as a whole. If I treat two sides of rectangle as different patches, they would move differentially, I guess. Motion of moving wall is modeled by spring-dashpot system with external force coming from the fluid. The two sides experience different forces and hence would start to move differentially, which I do not want.

I want the rectangle to move as a whole (rigid body).
or
are u talking of any utility to split up the patch and still maintain it as a single patch ?
Kindly guide me through this.
