Dear all,

I am trying to simulate current flow in a tank with open environment at the outlet. I have tried several ways only to find that the current is reflected at the outlet causing water level to rise in the tank.

I am running a simple case where current is generated at the inlet using waves2foam.

I would like to simulate an open environment for my outlet boundary condition.

But I find that the current flow does not leave the tank but is reflected.

Is there something wrong with my outlet boundary conditions ?

These are my boundary conditions for the outlet

alpha1:

type zeroGradient

p_rgh :

type buoyantPressure
value uniform 0

U:

type inletOutlet;
inletValue uniform (0 0 0);
value $internalField;

*internal Field was set to uniform (0 0 0)

I would also like to ask does setting potential current (0 0 0) in the wave properties file for the outlet absorb current generated at the inlet?

Thank you.

Regards,
Prasad

Hi all,

With regards to my earlier query, attached are the sectional views for alpha1 and U.
The current flow for the inlet which is at the left is 2 ms-1.

Thank you.

Prasad
