Hi everybody!

Im trying to modell to following case:

a cylinder creates a karman-vortex, which hits a naca 0012-airfoil and creates turbulences.

right now im trying pimpleFoam with the k-epsilon-modell. But i really would like to know if there are any better ways to realize this case. simplefoam? k-omega? i guess the biggest problem ist creating a laminar and turbulent flow in one case.

i think i've got enough cells. maybe i need some more experience and advices when it comes to set the correct boundary-conditions. however, my simulation runs and im waiting for the vortex, but my notebook doesn't has the performance for fast results.

it's actually calculating 10 hours for 1 second. :-D

looking for steady state condition, so i suggest using simpleFoam.
Also run the case in laminar, after the convergence is met, turn on turbulence

Hi,
I think you won't get a von Karman vortrex street using a steady state solver. PimpleFoam seems to be the best transient solver available in OpenFOAM. I suggest that you search in the forum for ways to tune up the solver to get a better performance.
Best regards,
Paulo
