Hi,
I'm starting to study how to write solvers using OpenFOAM. Will my solver be available under FoamX, like icoFoam and others, or will I have to configure it manually? Thanks in advance, Alberto |

Hello Alberto,
you will have to write configuration files (.cfg) yourself but that is fairly straightforward. Take the config file (under $FOAMX_SYSTEM_CONFIG) of the application that behaves most like yours. Say I have written myFoam which is almost like icoFoam. Take $FOAMX_SYSTEM_CONFIG/applications/incompressible/icoFoam and copy it to $FOAMX_USER_CONFIG/applications/incompressible/myFoam In there move the icoFoam.cfg to myFoam.cfg and make your changes. Now create a case (right click on the root directory in the case browser) and voila you will have myFoam to choose from. |

Hej,
I have problems with adding a user application class. When typing "echo $FOAM_USER_CONFIG" I just receive a empty line as answer....? Also if I type $FOAMX_SYSTEM_CONFIG/applications/incompressible/icoFoam I get: No such file or directory (I have OpenFoam solvers in the: OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.3/applications/solvers) What I should do to add my solver and in which path I should put it? thank you, Rita |
