Hello
It's been a bit hard for me to use FOAM. It was installed on a server basis and I ran the test example indicated in the README file. It ran with no problems... although I do not know where the results are (funny, I think). Now I am trying to run FoamX (and FoamXHB), but I can't. I attach the error output: ---------------------- [me078034@MEXP685C ~]$ runFoamX ls: /applic/OpenFOAM/jobControl/runningJobs: No such file or directory ls: /applic/OpenFOAM/jobControl/finishedJobs: No such file or directory Jobs overview (from $FOAM_JOB_DIR): Running : 0 Finished : 0 Some of the jobs reported as running might actually no longer be running. You can these remove old jobInfo using the FoamX ProcessEditor or with the foamCheckJobs script. Starting NameServer with inet:MEXP685C.sme.cranfield.ac.uk:1234 ... error: cannot open output file /applic/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.0.2/.OpenFOAM-1.0.2/apps/FoamX/ns.ref [me078034@MEXP685C ~]$ runFoamXHB Starting NameServer with inet:MEXP685C.sme.cranfield.ac.uk:1234 ... error: cannot open output file /applic/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.0.2/.OpenFOAM-1.0.2/apps/FoamX/ns.ref ------------------------------------- I think I know the reason (missing Host and Port in the FoamXClient.cgf file)... Please confirm. Are they (host/port) easily obtainable from the server unit?... (I do not manage the server and I want to ask for it the server manager providing help at the same time... so he/she finds it easy). PS. I do no understand if I need to create jobControl/runningJobs... finishedJobs files. I think that'll be the next question... any help is welcomed. thanks carlos. |

Looks like you don't have permission to write to the jobControl directory or to write the ns.ref file needed by FoamX.
Copy the .OpenFOAM-1.0.2 to your home directory instead and source ~/.OpenFOAM-1.0.2/cshrc instead. After this check your $FOAMX_USER_CONFIG variable. It should now point to somewhere under ~/.OpenFOAM-1.0.2. |
