VOF conservative form

Dear Foamers,

Do you know why the VOF equation in the interFoam solver is written in the conservative form

Code:
ddt(alpha1) + div( U alpha1) = 0
instead of the usual VOF incompressible form :

Code:
ddt(alpha1) + U . grad(alpha1) = 0
