Hi,
I would like to know where wmake comes from. I searched and found a tool from the watcom compiler that has the same name, but looking more carefully its use is different from the tool used with OpenFOAM.
Best Regards,
Paulo

Hi Paulo,

I can't find the original location where I read about this, but I read somewhere that wmake stood for "Weller Make", i.e. Henry Weller's script for wrapping up make. This is actually stated in the German translation on Wikipedia, although they do not provide a source for that statement.

Although... now that I write about this, it possibly means both:
  • wrap make
  • Weller make
As for the origin: it's part of OpenFOAM since it's origins, namely FOAM itself.
For more specific details, or at least an official reference, I think you'll have to contact the OpenFOAM Foundation

Best regards,
Bruno

Hi Bruno,
Thanks for the answer. As everything related to OpenFOAM has FOAM in the name I thought that it came from another origin.
Best Regards,
Paulo

How about WM in, for example, $WM_PROJECT_DIR?
