Hello.

I am looking for an OpenFOAM solver that uses only LS models to compare multiphase flow simulation of Volume of Fluids (VoF) and Level Set (LS) interface models. I could check the slsVOFFoam of S.Menon [2014], a CLSVoF model, but I could not find a solver that used only the LS model. Is there a multiphase flow solver that only uses LS model?

Thanks in advance

J. Lee

Haven't found only LS being implemented in openFOAM. Although we have coupled LSVoF. If you find, please do share as I too want to understand the implementation before diving into the coupled solver for interface tracking.

Dear Michael,

Can you please tell me which solver uses the CLSVOF? Thanks!

Jasper

Its Coupled Level Set VoF so its for multiphase simulations. InterFoam is the base solver.

I don't think interFoam is the Coupled Level Set VoF. It just uses VOF, isn't it?

Level set is an interface capturing method. Coupled LS VoF actually takes advantage of the mass conservation of the VOF method and the sharp interface capturing of LS method. You can read the report by Sankar Menon "Coupled Level-Set with VOF interFoam".

But interFoam is not the Coupled Level Set VoF

Its for the curvature calculation and subsequently in the surface tension. Spurious currents resulting from the advection of the alpha also exist. Coupling improves the computation of curvature of the interface and its normal direction. But since its multiphase, the main solver will be based on interFoam and its family.

I agree with you, but the coupled level set needs to be implemented in interFoam as reported by Sankar Menon, because interFoam just uses VOF. In his report, the new solvers are termed sclsVOFFoam and sclsVOFFoamsf.
