Manupulating the values of field variables in adjacent to cetain cell

Dear members

I want manipulate the field variable U(velocity) of the North and south cells adjacent to cell[I]. How can I do that ? There are ways to calculate the all cells(North,South,East and West) adjacent to cell[I]. But how can I calculate value only in North and South cells in OpenFOAM.

I think there is no universal method but you can do by comparing the coordinates of the adjacent cell centers.

I am not familiar with how to write the code for that.Can you please explain or direct me to some place where I can find the instructions to write the code for my purpose.
