I am working on simulating a fluidized bed gasification process. To implement the process, I believe I need to add the particle collision behaviour in DPMFoam to the chemistry simulation in coalChemistryFoam. Does anyone have an idea on how to combine solvers?

Quick answers:
  1. http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/IcoFoam + http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/ScalarTransportFoam = http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Ho...ure_to_icoFoam
  2. "multiSolver" contribution, which can (try) to loop several solvers as if it was a single solver: https://github.com/Marupio/multiSolver/wiki

As we all know, the four-way coupling idea is adopted in the DPMFoam, which can be used to solve dense-phase flows; while the two-way coupling idea is employed in coalChemsitryFoam, which is usually chosen to solve dilute-phase flows. So we should take advantages of these two solvers. I have done some works with cmigueis, following threads are recommended to you (or you can search "coalcollidingChemistryFoam" in google):

Frankly speaking, the gasification (or chemical reactions) in dense-phase reactors can be modeled by use of CFD-DEM coupling approach in the latest MFIX codes. In my opinions, I recommend you the software of MFIX.
