hello, foamers.

In my experience with pimpleFoam, I found out that nCorrector and nOuterCorrector specified in fvSolution file helps to stabilize the simulation when a large maxCo is used. Firstly I set nCorretor=2, nOuterCorrector=3 and maxCo=2, the simulation failed after it struggled for some iterations. Then I changed only the nCorrector = 3, it runs sucessfully.

I'm told nCorrector is the number of iterations of pressure equation(in my case GAMG) with in a PISO algorithm and nOuterCorrctor is the number of PISO iterations within the PIMPLE algorithm.

As I have observed, increasing the nCorr and nOuterCorr did not increase the total iterations in GAMG or PIMPLE iteration too much, however it helped stabilize the simulation with bigger courant number and hence reduced the total simulation time.

Am I correct about what I said above?
