Spalart-Allmaras wall functions in OF 2.1?

I've been trying to do some benchmarking simulations for external/unconfined turbulent flow over simple airfoil geometries using OpenFOAM/simpleFoam 2.1 with Spalart-Allmaras turbulence modelling.

I was hoping to look at the effect of using or not using wall functions in an ideal case, but I seem to be consistently getting the same results regardless of what nut/nuTilda BC I use (I've tried fixedValue uniform 0 and nutUSpaldingWallFunction uniform 0) on the airfoil. This would seem to suggest that Spalart-Allmaras is using some kind of internal wall function formulation - but I haven't been able to find any reference in the source or in the forum.

Am I correct that Spalart-Allmaras uses an internal wallfunction? If so, is there a reference for the wall function used? And what is the proper BC to use for a no-slip wall?

Thanks!

Peter

Hi pbeaucage,

Could you give me our 0/files for nut and nutilda please? I try to simulate a flow in a nozzle with this model but without succes until now. So I need some help.

Thank you
