Hi OpenFoam community,

I just started using the software and have a newbish question.

I have done a simulation with simpleFoam to get a steady state condition.

Now I want to use this steadystate condition (velocity and pressure) in another simulation as the initial condition. The mesh is exactly the same. Can I just copy the results from the latest time step into the 0/ directory and erase the location and arch from the header in FoamFile?

Is copy/paste enough? Is there a utility to do this? What is the procedure?

Edit system/controlDict and set startTime for simulation-2 equal to endTime of simulation-1.

Hi thank you for the reply.
What if the second solver is transient?
To your knowledge is there a problem with copying the files into the zero folder to use as initial condition?

Best regards,

Both approaches work.
