Solving for only one velocity component

Hi foamers,

is it possible to solve just for one velocity component?
I want to simulate a straight duct with periodic boundary conditions.
By definition the y-component of the velocity should be zero.

Otherwise I get convergence problems with Uy

Pascal

hi
yes.its simple.just in blockmeshdict file define planes at y and z direction in empty dictionary.in this manner your problem will be one dimensional if you intended that.
Be successful.

Thank you for your reply immortality,

the thing is I don't want it completely 1D so I need Ux depending on the coordinate y.
Only the solving for Uy should be switched off.
The in and outlet planes are already defined as cyclic so I cannot specify to empty
