Crack/Explosion of a pressure chamber and the resulting shock waves
I am trying to simulate the shock waves generated due to failure in a pressurised chamber. The chamber operates between 30 to 100 Bar and is filled with nitrogen. It is placed in a test room at STP. The failure is caused by breaking of one of the glass components.
I am trying to understand how I can use OpenFOAM to analyse this scenario. I need to calculate the pressure of the shock waves that are generated due to this failure and whether it will cause any damages to the neighbouring walls of this test room.
I have been using rhoCentralFOAM and sonicFOAM with the shock wave tutorial setting up a pressure difference field between the room and the chamber and letting it run until the first set of waves hit the wall. I am not sure if simulations of this nature can be handled this way.
Any insight or heads up into what path I must take would be highly appreciated. Especially the solver. I was also told there must be another boundary condition (e.g. mass flow rate) and that setting two different pressure fields will not produce reliable results, is this true?
