Ignition and flame propagation with XiFoam for a few meters long comput. domains

Dear all,

I searched for a topic like that on the forum, but didn't find a similar one.

Actually, I try to model ignition and flame propagation in a box, whose edges are 3 m long.

I use XiFoam (in the RANS framework) and the corresponding ignition model, with the parameters of the tutorial 'Moriyoshi_Homogeneous'

Due to the size of the computational domain, I have to work with cells whose caracteristic widht is between 0.5-1 cm.

What happens is : a burnt gases kernel is initiated and then slowly diffuses without propagation.
I tried to refine the mesh in ignition zone. What happens : burnt gases pocket is created, propagation of the flame front starts and then stops, out of the refined zone.

The ignition model seems to be very sensitive ...
Do you use a personal model or one detailed in the literature ?
Or as is, is the ignition model linked to XiFoam satisfying for you ? Is there any special trick to make work the transition ignition/flame propagation ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Guillaume

Hi Guillaume
Did you find any information relevant to this query on the forum? If yes then can you please share here, as I am working on XiFoam and facing similar problem of flame getting stopped in few test cases.

Thanks in advance.
