AMI-Rotary Spheroidal Interface
 
Hi everybody

I am new in OF and I am going to use OF AMI application.I know AMI uses cylindrical zone as an interface, but my rotary interface isn't cylindrical.
my case is a rotary spheroidal zone in a cubic domain. can I do my case using OF?
Please give me some hints about AMI ability.

Hi,

I've never tried a spheroidal boundary but can give you a link to a post where I explained how I set up an AMi interface using an .stl file:

After the steps described here I simply followed the propeller tutorial steps (topoSet, createPatch, createBaffles, mergeOrSplitBaffles -split).

I'm pretty sure if you make the .stl a sphere it would work. I'm also pretty sure, however, that you will have to choose your mesh settings very well and match them to the rotational speed of your mesh because otherwise you will suffer from floating point exceptions which occur when you get partial overlap of AMI faces (I was getting a lot of that with a poorly defined AMI itnerface).
