Hi dear Foamers;
Do you know which solvers work well with Cyclic BC?
Through what I read through the forum, I think simpleFoam does not work with Cyclic.
ChannelFoam did work with it, but in OF2.2.1, it is removed.
Does pimpleFoam (which now includes channelFoam) can handle Cyclic?
If yes, what shall I do for laminar flow? I think pimple is for turbulent.

Thanks so much.

As far as I have seen, pimpleFoam and interFoam are ok with cyclic BC. However, I cannot maintain the velocity inside the domain.

Do you know how to avoid the velocity between cyclic BC's from slowing down to zero?

Also in pimpleFoam, got to constant directory and change the turbulent properties from LES... to laminar, this turns the LES off.

Hi Shawn,

Did you solve this problem already? I am facing exactly the same issue.

Thanks,
Yanxiang

Dear all,
I plan to compute some LES simulations using OpenFOAM to study to flow field around a urban area (1km2).
I' m collecting experimental data since 1 month (3d anemometers mean+turbulence) and i would like now to run LES.
I m confused with all the models proposed by OpenFOAM, which one would you recommend me? the dynOneEqEddy is adequate?
i plan to use the cubeRootVol as the delta.
Regarding the inlet, i plan to use cyclic boundary conditions.
Regarding the mesh, i prepared one with cells 1m close to the ground/wall.
Does someone has any suggestion or tried to run LES for such case.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

simpleFoam does work with cyclic BCs, too.

Best regards
Julian
