Hello all,

I am trying to run a case where I need to use periodic boundary conditions (inlet/outlet) but unfortunately the mesh is not the same on both patches, i.e., the geometry is the same, but one patch has fewer faces than the other.

Is there any way to achieve this? I thought about using cyclicAMI but haven't managed to get it working...

Cheers,
Felipe

I suppose cyclic boundaries in OpenFOAM needs same amount of nodes and you shoud set the tolerance for matching the corresponding nodes.

It would be easy to make matching faces in GAMBIT or ICEM, why not trying these instead?

Hey,

Thanks for the replies.

Indeed, cyclic conditions require the same amount of nodes/faces and the meshes should not be very different on both patches, so this will not work for me.

Regarding GAMBIT or ICEM, not only don't I have a license for those, but I have no experience with them... The geometry I am trying to mesh involves sharp corners and I have already had trouble getting a proper mesh in Gmsh.

Maybe I can rephrase the question: is it possible to map two patches to each other, so that the solution is interpolated from one to the other?
