hi..

How can i know which resolution i am running my case?
example for a hill , i mesh it and then run it with the solver.
So how do i know the resolution?

izna
If you mean mesh resolution, that is controlled by you in the meshing stage. If you did it with blockmesh, you control the resolution of each block. If you used snappyHexMesh, then resolution depends on the refinement criteria for each surface. You can use checkMesh to give you overall cell numbes and min/max cell volume, which may help you in with determining resolution.

i obtained my mesh from snappy and block..

But i have downloaded a case file from the net with .stl file.. there already i think the case was created

If you haven't already done so, read the manual sections on meshing:

http://www.openfoam.org/docs/user/mesh.php#x22-1270005

The blockMeshDict gives you the base mesh density, and in snappyHexMeshDict you will find out how to set the refinement levels for the STL surfaces. It will make more sense once you read the manuals carefully.
