Hi all,
I did my geometry using freeCad (AutoCAD for Linux) but the mesh quality is not so good. I tried to export my file in a .stl file and improve the mesh using Blender and enGrid and I didn't manage to do it. So, anybody have any other idea to do a mesh refinement ? Many thanks. |

I am using Blender 2.68a and enGrid 1.4. Can you be more specific about where you are having problem?

Hi gcengineer,
Basically, I have a geometry in .stl file but the number of cells in the surface is not so big. Consequently I don't have a good resolution on the geometry's surface. I did this geometry in freeCad. I've have tried to manipulate this number of cells on Blender and enGrid. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to do that. I guess, I need to export my .stl file to a mesh format and than change the number of elements in the surface. I tried everything on Blender, but I can't increase my mesh resolution. Any tips in how to do this on Blender (or other programs)? Thanks |

You can increase the number of surface elements with enGrid by using the "create/improve surface mesh" button. The Blender/enGrid tutorial (pdf) discusses this on p. 14 or here.

Hi gcengineer
Thank you very much for your help. I manage to refine my mesh on enGrid and now I am just playing with some parameters to get a good mesh. About Blender, it has been a problem to me. According to the tutorial, I am able to create a mesh direct on it, but, if I already have a .stl file and I wish to mesh this geometry (create a mesh around the CAD geometry), so, any idea in how can I do that ? Thanks. |
