Documentation for solvers and utilities?
 

Hi,

I've been exploring OpenFoam(OF) for a couple of weeks now and have a general question regarding how to find information about the solvers. I searched the forum and internet and the only thing I could really find was

which provides a general description of the standard solvers. However apart from digging into the tutorials I can't find any information about what formula's are solved, what input is required, and what the format of the input should be. There is loads of information of the general layout of the case file but nothing specific. I agree that a tutorial is a good way to learn however I also think a tutorial can never completely explain all the possibilities of a solver.
The problem is even worst with the utilities for which I can't seem to find any information at all. I did examine the code for the utilities hoping there would be comments that would explain things however that proved fruitless.
Am I missing something? Is documentation being worked on or perhaps deemed unneeded with the amount of tutorials available? I really like the way OF is set up compared to other open source solvers however for it to be more successful and be applied on a wider scale I believe providing information to users in the form of documentation in an important step.

P.S. Please don't misinterpret this post as being overly negative about OF. I really like OF and think it is a great initiative. However experience has taught me the importance (and difficulty) of proper documentation, and that is the one thing I'm really missing right now.

This question comes up a lot. The best free (of charge) sources are the extend-wiki, the OF course at Chalmers and finally the cocoons project. Latter is of the most high quality, but also the most infantile project.
