Volume of fluid contained in a cell
Hi all
Can anybody please let me know how to find the volume of fluid contained in a cell or domain as a whole. Am working in interFoam and want to find the volume of fluid in the domain at different time. Any hint will be a privilege. Thanks in advance Regards Sujatha |
Hi Sujatha,
output of interFoam gives you "Phase-1 volume fraction". This value multplied by the total volume of the domain (e.g. from checkMesh) gives the volume of phase-1 Hope this helps, Jan |
Thank You , sir,JNSN for your quick and worthy reply.
But since I am a newbie to CFD and OpenFOAM , am still confused. Will the output log file be giving the volume fraction of a single cell? And in my case of "damBreak" initially all the cells won't have liquid phase but only a column of water at one end of the domain. Also, volume fraction of phase1 remains almost same value for me through out ma simulation. I will be grateful if you could kindly go through the above issues. Please excuse if these are a sort of blunders, as it's due to my ignorance. Thanks again Regards Sujatha |
No, the solver output gives the volume fraction in the whole domain. If you are interested in the volume fraction in a single cell, the easiest way may is with a probe

This helps sir, JNSN.
Thanks a million. |
