Dear all,

in the libOpenSMOKE user guide (http://creckmodeling.chem.polimi.it/UserGuide.pdf) the authors talk about a flamelet version of rhoPisoFoam "under testing and validation". To my knowledge, the solver has not been released anymore.

I have successfully tried the steady version, rhoSimpleFoamFlamelets - many thanks to the authors for that - and would like to try the unsteady one.

Do you have any news about that?

Thanks in advance,
Francesco

Hi,

I wrote my masterthesis the last 7 month about that flameletmodel.

You should know that there are some bugs in the model!!!

http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post386239

The libraries are very nice and I build the unsteady solver.
But for now there are some problems with the "non-adiabatic" simulations. They are all wrong. In my release its possible to simulate freestream flames correctly but for closed geometries the radiation model is completely wrong (like for combustion cambers) and the enthalpiedefekt is wrong if you calculate non-adiabatics!

Greatings tobi

PS: on sept there should be a new version but still not avaiable.
I am very familiar with the solver and the whole code of albertos tool.

Now I have 3 weeks left to finish my thesis and after that, I ll share my updated flamelet solver tool.

Hi Tobias,

thank you very much for your reply. I'm interested in flamelet solvers for OpenFOAM, so I think I'll be back to you soon

Good luck for your thesis!

HI Francesco,

well I am the only one (with Tom Farner) who are interessted in that solver. Well Tom has not so much time for trying the solver and so on but I had to validate the solver and doing complex camber combustion with it. Yesterday I solved the "LAST" bug in the libraries.

After the long time I have to say, that the flamelet solver is a very greate tool. I wrote to alberto many times but he never replayed me

So I had to get familiar with the code, and here I am
I changed a few things in the solver and will bring out a User Guide for it. I am not sure when the new libraries from alberto will come but I can say that my flameletsolver is working correctly for the cases I used it for.

The only thing which is bad is, that alberto is just sharing his binaries for building the flamelet libraries and look-up-tables.

Regard Tobi

Hi sonu

Before using the solver, you should take a look at your flame. you should
keep in mind that steady flamelet may not give you correct answers for lifted flames. My proposal for you is using firefoam with FSD combustion model which is actually a flamelet/progress variable approach that uses one
reaction for combustion. However, its expertise is modeling lifted flames.
However, If you still want using libopensmoke go to its forum in this site.
I may help you there.

Thanks bobi for guiding me . one small doubt that i am using openFoam 2.2 so for that should i need to install libopensmoke or can i install directly modified flamelet model 2.2..?

Hi

libopensomke works with 2.1 and the prior versions. If you want operating with 2.2.x; then you should use Tobi modified version. You can find the links in the libopenSmoke forum.

Is there a dedicated libOpenSmoke forum? I'd be very grateful for a link; I couldn't find it myself.
