Hi,

I would like to know how to simulate two different gases in same domain in compressible flow solver. I use a modified form of rhoCentralFoam.

Domain is a cylindrical pipe with two internal diaphragms. I want to specify gases with different densities in the partitioned regions. I don't think it is a multi-phase flow type. The two fluids do not interact. It is just the transfer of loads that I am looking at.
The gases are modeled by same eqn of state. I just want to change the density.

As I post, I think about another option as to breakup the internalField into two so I can specify different initial densities. I don't know if its possible in openfoam.

suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.

Hi Achyutan,

how about using "reactingFoam" and switching off the chemistry solution part?

Cheers,
Bernhard

Hi Bernhard,
Thank u for your response.
I don't have much exp using reactingFoam. Also, I am using godunov type schemes for shock capturing which i guess i cannot use in reactingFoam. Of course, i can modify it to my use.

Now, I want to know if i use splitmeshRegions utility can i specify two different gases ?
if yes, how to do it ?
