Hi,
Until now I was working with micoparticle and calculating deposition using simpleFoam and icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam. I got satisfactory results. Now I am required to do the same for nanoparticles where convection-diffusion mass transfer equation is to be solved and concentration gradient is to be found at required locations. Can any body suggest any approach towards solving such kind of problems using OpenFOAM? Is there any standard solver available in OpenFOAM ? Regards, Mayank. |

Hi Mayank,
a while ago i have performed simulations of nanoparticle transport and deposition using an Eulerian mass transfer model. For steady simulations, i have used simpleFoam and a modified scalarTransportFoam. You can find all the details in: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science...21850212001899 Hope that helps, Florian |

Thanks a lot Florian, This is exactly what I was looking for.
Are there any similar articles available for micro-particles. I searched ScienceDirect extensively but couldn't find one based on OpenFOAM. If you have any such articles please post the link or pm me. Thanks again! Best, Mayank. |

Not sure about that. From what i saw in the literature, many people who use an Euler-Lagrange approach to study mico-particle dispersion and deposition (and related phenomena) in the human airways use Fluent with UDFs.
Good luck. Florian |
