Hi guys, so I've been trying to simulate a rotating vessel in OpenFoam using the solver MFRInterFoam , but don't know how to define my CellZones file in the Poly Mesh directory.
I want the whole vessel to rotate . I thought the number in the cell zones file must be equal to the number of points in the Points file in the same directory , but got the following error :
"Reading g
Calculating field g.h

No finite volume options present

Creating MRF zone list from MRFProperties
creating MRF zone: zone1
*** Error in `MRFInterFoam': malloc(): memory corruption: 0x09cb6408 ***"

I reduced the number of cell zones and the solver worked , but the result didn't seem to be correct .
So can anyone tell me what my number of cells should be ?
Is there any relation between the number of Points and Cell Zones ?
Thank you in advance for your time !

Hi,

A cellZone is basically just a list of cellLabels, so integers that identify each cell. Your cellZone should have all the cells that are within the vessel. Try to run and analyze one of the tutorials for MRF*Foam to see how it works.

Regards,
Tom

Hi,

It is not online, OpenFOAM comes along with all kinds of tutorials, this is explained in the user guide that comes along as well. You can also find the tutorial folders if you type this in your terminal (after loading the OpenFOAM environment variables):

Code:
tut
Most tutorials will not take a lot of time to run, but please study the steps taken there carefully, you will learn quite a lot.

Regards
