Hello Foamers,
I would like to simulate a 2D turbine blade and I'm facing the following methodology problem. I would like to have a set up like the pic attached: after a first static session, the flow approach the turbine blade in the area where I would like to use an MRF to simulate with a steasy-staet simulation the rotation of the blade, and then the flow exits in a second static outlet section.

I looked at the simpleFoam + MRFpropeties option but in this case it is only possible to define a rotational reference frame (axis+origin+omega). However, since my problem is 2D, my rotation is simply a translation in the vertical direction. Is there another feature that would let me to define a translating reference frame?

My proble is similar to what already posted here: MRF with translation zone in 2D turbomachinery case

Best regards

I strongly recommend you create the geometry with two different regions. For example, let's named it 'Rotor-Region' and 'Stator-Region'.

Then, If you would like to conduct sliding mesh for the 'Rotor-Region', you should create the interface between rotor and stator region.

For the advanced set-up, please see visit the link below :

Hope it helps!!!
