Hi everyone,
I am working on an oscillating heave column case where free surface is involved as you can see in the attached first image. Basically the column oscillates in the heave (Z) direction. I use the oscillatingLinearMotion in the solidBodyMotionFvMesh library to simulate the movement so that overall mesh quality is preserved. My problem is that for such a case since no current is considered, it is quite difficult to estimate a proper yPlus value for meshing and also to select an appropriate turbulence model. Due to the vortex generated near the corners, velocity variance is quite large (second image) resulting in a varying yPlus value from well below 1 to almost 100 (third image). I currently use k-omega SST model with wall functions but I am not sure if it is all right. Does someone happen to have some experience on a similar topic? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you very much! Best wishes, Yuanchuan |
