Hey guys I am new to OpenFoam,
As for my project , I have to simulate an external flow around an airfoil. I did all the steps and successfully create the mesh using snappyHexMesh. I intend to use K-Epsilon model and setup the files according to it. But when I am running simpleFoam command, I am getting this error. Build : 2.3.1-bcfaaa7b8660 Exec : simpleFoam Date : Aug 12 2015 Time : 19:36:36 Host : "ka-pc5l" PID : 9605 Case : /home/kalabor/tutorials/mesh/snappyHexMesh/goe532-airfoil-testsimulation nProcs : 1 sigFpe : Enabling floating point exception trapping (FOAM_SIGFPE). fileModificationChecking : Monitoring run-time modified files using timeStampMaster allowSystemOperations : Allowing user-supplied system call operations // * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * // Create time Create mesh for time = 0 Reading field p --> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR: cannot find file file: /home/kalabor/tutorials/mesh/snappyHexMesh/goe532-airfoil-testsimulation/0/p at line 0. From function regIOobject::readStream() in file db/regIOobject/regIOobjectRead.C at line 73. I am stuck here for 2 weeks now. Please help me. Thanks in advance. Ansab |

Seriously? Two weeks? The error tells you exactly what is failing, there is no p file in the 0 folder.
Go to the tutorials/incompressible/simpleFoam and look how the test case is configured |

@ansab: Quick suggestion: Study chapter 2 of the OpenFOAM User Guide: http://cfd.direct/openfoam/user-guide/tutorials/ - because the reported problem is first explained in subsection "2.1.1.2 Boundary and initial conditions"

Okey then upload the case and I will have a look at it (don't upload the polymesh folder because I imagine that it will weight a lot)

Dear ssss, thanks for the reply but I am now successful in running the simulation. The problem as suggested by Bruno, was in the BOUNDARY FIELDS in P, U, K ,Epsilon and Nut files.
