Hi Everyone,
I'm using CFDEM software which is combination of LIGGGHTS and OpenFOAM. in the system folder I have a controldict AND a controldict.foam file. Does anyone know what the latter of the two is? The simulation still runs when I remove it so I guess it's not crucial. I've tried googling 'controldict.foam' and I see that it appears in other codes that use OpenFOAM as a CFD solver. Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, Victor |

It's not a file which is commonly in OpenFOAM. *.foam extension is usually only used with paraview, have you launched it there by mistake?
Also, if you post the content of the file we might be able to tell you more. |

Sometimes they use .foam extension as original version. As it is said, .foam isn't used in OpenFoam. Probably it is used for storing the original file or a different version of it.
