What solver for particle tracking in transient flow?

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to figure out if a solver exists or whether I need to create one. The scenario I am simulating is several vortices moving around in 2D and I want to track inertial particles in the flow. 1. The fluid is incompressible 2. Flow is laminar 3. Particles do not interact with each other. 4. The only forces acting on the particles are drag and gravity 5. 1-way coupling (particles to not effect fluid flow) I have been playing with icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam, but this does not include evolution of the flow field. To do this, could I just combine icoFoam and icoUncoupledKinmaticParcelFoam? Or is there a solver that exists that will do this for me? I have been searching and I cannot quite find a clear answer. Thanks for the help! |

Actually, I my have just found what I was looking for in swak4foam.
Particularly in the Example: icoFoamCavityWithParcels |

Hi casesam,
you can construct parcels (lagrangian intermediate) on the PISOFOAM solver. Then u can have laminar, and any turbulent model. and in KinematicCloudProperties just include drag and gravitational force. |
