Hello FOAM'ers,
I am new to OpenFOAM and I apologize if this is a trivial problem. I am not clear on how to go about initializing the flowfield. I am used to running various commercial flow solvers where you can specify initial conditions in many different ways and the code takes care of it.

So, if you have a 3D structured (i.e. hex) or unstructured (i.e. tets/prisms) mesh, how do you all go about initializing the flowfield? If I want to specify different initial conditions in different places (e.g. shocktube) how do I do that? I searched through the posts, but could not find anything that addresses my problem.

Thanks!

Ashish

Look at the damBreak tutorial

Look at the damBreak tutorial for application interFoam: you need a utility called setFields.

Enjoy,
