Hi,

I know there are manty thread on mesh motion, but I guess non does fit this one...

I used interDyMfoam with the solidBodyMotionFvMesh and the dynamicRefineFvMesh. Aseptically the second is great!!! Now I would like to use both features together to do adaptive meshing in a moving (but solid) mesh. What is the easiest way. Do I have to combine both options hardwired by creating a new library? Or is it possible to combine them via run time selection? If yes, how to setup in dynamicMeshDict?

Thanks
Daniel

Hi,

recently I observed the same problem. Find attached a case free surface testcase (derived from icoDyMFoam's the movingCone) an an animation showing the results.
The lower plots in the included animation shows the MULES result. Ggamma is exeding one, if the cell volume is decreasing due to mesh deformation. Gamma is unphysically reduced if cell volume is increasing.

I used solidBody motionMesh (constant cell volume) without this problems.

I tracked the error down to MULES. Find attached a simplified interDyMFoam, which uses (insead of MULES) a simple scalar transport equation for gamma (in gammEqn2.H). The result is plotted in the bottom plot of the attached animation.

MULES interface compression feature is higly desirable, thus I would like to use MULES in combination with movingMesh.

So, can anybody help me undersantding or repatring MULEs for moving mesh?

Thaks
Daniel

And here comes the animation. Mind the color map.

Sorry for the confusion, I am not yet very skilled using this forum software.
