Dear all,
I have just faced with OpenFOAM. I want to know if it can be used for my problem. My problem is determination of macrosegregation in a continuous casting system, with consideration of thermo-solutal buoyancy. Some equations need to be solved: heat eqn, flow eqn (with k-epsilon turbulence) and species conservation eqn. Do you think that OpenFOAM is a proper tool for my problem? Is there any prepared solver for this problem, or I should start creating my solver from base? Very thanks. |

definitely,
I don't think but that there are any prepared solver for it, but a little inspiration from existing multiphaseflow/heat transfer solvers should do the trick. Do you have a particular model you want to implement? |

If you want to model something like this:
"" Implications of solid phase interaction mechanisms on momentum, heat and solute transport in semi-solid materials processing International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Volume 50, Issues 13-14, July 2007, Pages 2692-2703 Joydeep Chowdhury, Suvankar Ganguly, Suman Chakraborty "" OpenFoam is definitely the proper tool |
