I want to simulate an air bubble in water. The air bubble is compressible and the water is not. Is there any solver I can start with? Basically there are two different fluids (compressible and incompressible). For VOF method, both fluids are incompressible.

Hi Xiaofeng,

I think there are some tutorials that deal with that or something similar, check page U-84 of the OpenFOAM manual on Multiphase flow. I intend to try this as well, although I haven't gotten to it yet. Do you have any specific problems or is it just starting?

Regards, Gijs

We have a 1D model which deals with filling of pipe flows. Air bubbles are always seen in this type of flow. They are sometimes trapped inside the pipe (for example sewage pipes). This caused a lot of problem especially during a flood event. The purpose is to use 3D model to validate our 1D simple model.

I will have a look at the user mannual.

It seems there is no such solver with solve both incompressible and compressible flows.

Anyone has experience on this?
