Hi Jaswinder,

My geometry is very simple, the problem is that I'm using HyperMesh to generate it and I don't know how to define the zones. I've already seen the mixerVessel2D case in the MRF case, I can't find the tutorial of icoDynFoam, but I think it would be better to use the static mesh approach, since my final geometry is a bit complex.

How can I define the zones? Is there a better or suggested way of doing it?

If you want I can send you my .cas file,

Thanks in advance

Francesco

Hi Francesco,

I have read your message in the "HyperMesh" thread too http://www.cfd-online.com/OpenFOAM_D...part/happy.gif

As I understand you correct, I dont think that using HyperMesh is the problem http://www.cfd-online.com/OpenFOAM_D...part/happy.gif

To define different zones in HM for your fan example, you can...
First create a shell boundary mesh absed on your geometry.

Then do a solidmeshing (Hexa or Tetra) to define the the fluid. Delete the shells and create faces on your solid elements.

Depending on the number of zones etc. organize the shell and solid elements in different component collectors.

Now you can export the mesh as fluent cas file and convert it with fluentMeshToFoam and normally all zones should be there (respectivly to your component collectors)

Kind Regards,
Flo
