Hi all,

I need to know if anybody has already implemented a simple Stockes equation? (without the non-linear term)

My Apologies. potentialFoam is the opposite of what you want. Check that other thread instead.

Hi pUIl,

Thank you to reply me.

Indeed, I think taht I found how to have a simple Stockes:

I removed "div(phi,U)" term in the simpleFoam.

Of course, I made it after studying precisely the code with DoxyGen.
I'm quite sure that I have my STOCKES solver, now.

Hope that somebody does tell me if I'm wrong.

Cheers,

Lam

Do a quick validation. Stokesian flow past a fixed sphere. There are analytical expressions you can compare your numerical results with.

Hi pUII,

Thnaks to give this information.
I've tried to find the ananlytical expression but I've not found it.
Can you tell in which paper I can find it?

THanks in advance pUII,

Compare your velocity/pressure fields with any of the analytical expressions[1,2]. Alternately, you could try using the liftDrag utility to estimate the net drag force on the sphere and compare it with the usual expression:

Fd = 6 * pi * dynamic viscosity * radius * free_stream_velocity

Ok, pUII!

I think this the right way to check.

Thanks again.

My best cheers,
